side diy: Dress to Tunic

Sometimes, all you need is a pair of scissors and a seam ripper to transform one thing into another. I found this gorgeous $8 dress at Goodwill last week – I particularly love the way the pleats fall starting at the waist. All I did was cut off the sleeves, take out the shoulder pads and cut off a good chunk of the bottom. Instant tunic! I left the bottom edge raw, but I might sew some bias tape around it to finish it off.
I share these side projects to hopefully inspire you to look at thrifted items in a different way. A lot can change with just a few snips.
