Now that the holiday season is into full swing, I’m sure many of you are feeling the festive craziness just as much as I am! (“holidaze”, as I like to call this particular season). I tried to be good this year and start my gift making in early October, but I quickly learned I should have started even earlier. There’s always those hard-to-gift people, whether they’re just picky or seem to already own absolutely everything.

Ironically, for me, my entire immediate family falls into that category. I’ve been mulling over what to gift them for quite a while now, until it hit me yesterday – monogrammed towels! Easy, inexpensive, but still extremely useful and personalized. I am still giving each family member other gifts, but these customized towels are still a thoughtful add on.

I picked up some nice, fluffy towels at Target (less than $8 each), then purchased individual letter patches at Michael’s (about 87 cents each). Each letter is attached to fabric using an iron. I know this might seem like the farthest thing from rocket science, but I thought I’d share some tips that will make this quick and easy project exactly that:

1) Be sure to buy “washable” letter patches. After all, towels will definitely need to be washed!
2) Work on a hard, sturdy surface.

3) For best results, read and follow the instructions on the patch’s packaging.

4) Add each letter one at a time. This will make it easier to line them up, side by side.

When you’re done, simply roll up the towel and wrap it up with a festive ribbon and bow. I made one each for my sister, mother and father in their favorite colors.
