diy manicure: Glitter Galaxy

…You know I had to do this!

Supplies:

  Nail polish >>
– Base coat
– Matte black
(or black & a matte top coat)
– 1-3 duochromes/metallics of your choice
– Clear glitter
Other >>- Makeup sponge

What I Used:

Sally Hansen Double Duty Strengthening Base & Top Coat
Manglaze Matte Nail Polish in Matte is Murder
Ulta Professional Nail Lacquer in Jaded
L.A. Colors Nail Lacquer in 351 Pink Sizzle
Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color in 180 Disco Ball& a round makeup sponge

Tip: If you can’t find a matte black polish, you can use a normal black under a matte top coat like  Hard Candy Just Nails Nail Color in 324 Matte-ly In Love.

Matte polishes usually have a bit of a subtle shimmer to them, which is perfect for a galaxy manicure.
I LOVE Manglaze’s packaging. So different than the usual 🙂

1) Apply black matte polish and let dry completely.

2) Apply your first duochrome/metallic to the sponge.

3) Stamp all over nails. You can be as light or as heavy as you’d like.

4) Repeat with the second color, and let dry.

5) Cover nails with clear glitter. Don’t forget to wipe off the excess from the brush (at least just to start off). You don’t want to pile on too much glitter! Just enough so that it looks like scattered stars.

If you’d like, you can enlarge the photos to see the details better. I’m thinking I’ll probably pile on the metallics a bit heavier next time.

Enjoy! xo
